Dahab

Overview

The former Bedouin fishing village of Dahab is now a popular tourist destination, especially for adventurous surfers, who will find some of the best conditions in the world at its beaches. This city has long been known as a quiet and camping town and has always attracted travelers and backpackers. It is now more developed, but retains its ordinary and traditional character. After all, it is also the location of the Blue Hole, one of the most dangerous diving spots in the world. Only divers with high technical experience must pass through what is known as the “bridge” in this hole. If you are a beginner diver, you should stay close to the surface. (Editor's Note: Our list was compiled before political unrest prompted many countries to issue travel warnings for Egypt. If you are currently planning a trip to Egypt, please consider the risks and heed government travel advisories.)
